Congratulations to all the young people and adults concerned at Ringway Primary School on achieving a Recognition of Commitment

Ringway Primary School is working towards an extremely important award called the Rights Respecting School Award. The children are learning many of their rights through their involvement with UNICEF and a Rights Respecting ethos throughout the whole school. They are also learning about the global issues which affect so many people through the help of their Spiritual, Moral, Social and Cultural development. Research has shown that;

  • This approach has a positive impact on students’ attitude to learning
  • Their behaviour in lessons improves
  • The respect they have for staff and each other improves, as well as developing positive attitudes to diversity and difference and also raising attainment.

We want children at Ringway to learn about their rights and feel empowered about their education. We recognise that rights and responsibilities are equally balanced and encourage our children to take responsibility for their actions in order to develop an awareness of how they might affect the rights of others. The aim is to help children achieve their potential and become responsible citizens.

On Friday 6th May, Ringway were honoured to have Katie Thistleton from CBBC open our art sculpture garden. All children had a part in making the sculptures to help towards achieving the Rights Respecting School Award. The children were given 5 key values to help them on their rights respecting journey. We had a fantastic day and loved having Katie from CBBC and Merv from the Wythenshawe World. Keep checking the paper for our fantastic news!
